Endeavour Shuttle launch

As plenty Dibbers are out in Florida right now remember that you have the chance to see the Space Shuttle Endeavour blasting off from the Kennedy Space Centre on Saturday morning.

The countdown from Endeavour on its STS-127 mission officially began at 9 a.m. today as countdown clocks began counting backward from T-43 hours.

If you are in Orlando right now make the effort to see this its a wonderful sight.

This will be our first morning there, and as much as I would really love to see this, we'll probably be knackered. I will probably be wide awake at 4.00am, but OH will snore for as long as I let him. My son and his girlfriend are out there at the mo, so will send them a text reminder

Drive in to Titusville. Turn left onto Highway 1A. Drive up aways and look for MAcdonalds @ 3835 S Washington Ave Titusville, FL 32780. When you see the MacDonalds on your right park up somewhere near and walk up the left hand side of the building.. You end up on the edge of the lake looking straight across at the Launchpads. (About 2 miles as the crow flies). I think there were some condos behind Macs too. Talk the the natives, they're really friendly.
Seen two from there, day and night. Fantastic. Take a radio too so you can listen to the countdown.
Getting all misty remembering it. I love that stuff.

Edited at 03:54 PM. Reason: just checked addy on google maps

is there anywhere i can find out about launch dates in the future?

We have missed a launch by a few days before and also jsut missed out on when they brough a shuttle (of some sort) down, landed it in the sea, and then eventually this was transported through NASA Kennedy Space Centr - the day before we visited the centre!

hi
if you havent seen a launch yet , you'll need to start making an effort soon as the shuttle is due to be scrapped march 2010 , but might be given a stay of execution if its replacement is not going to be ready

I'll be so sorry to see the space shuttle scrapped another concorde moment
