Disney cruising from Dover questions..

Hi all,

We are cruising from Dover for the first time in August and as it will be our first Disney cruise without needing to fly, I was wanting to take advantage of carrying as much onboard as we can (normally luggage is tight and so I never consider bringing extras from home!), but with driving to the port, we have far less restrictions.

So questions if I may - can we still bring alcohol onboard? (I know limits have changed over the years, but usually we haven’t bothered, so just wondered what we can/can’t bring on)? ETA - I’ve just read that we can bring on 6 x 12oz cans of beer per adult - is this still correct?

Can we also bring on the same amount in each port we stop at in Norway?

(I’m only asking as we are travelling with family for the first time, and they like a drink of an evening on holiday).

Also, with food items - I’m thinking popcorn, choc, sweets etc for movie nights/fish extender gifts - is all of this ok if I pack it in our main luggage?

ETA - another alcohol question if I may?! - I’ve seen that there is a Disney beer mug where you pay for 22 oz mug and then you get refills at the price of 16oz. I see that you can hand the mug back and get a paper token to save you carrying it around the ship - does that mean you shouldn’t really carry the beer mug around the ship? (Just wondering whether you can drink from the mug on deck/in the lounges and then walk back to your room/ go to dinner with it?).

And I’ve one more question (non food/alcohol related! ) - is there somewhere (a lounge or somewhere) where six of us (adults and quiet teenage children) could sit and play a board game? We were thinking of bringing some games with us incase of inclement weather and we all enjoy this as an extended family - where on the Disney Magic could we sit and do this? Ideally where children can sit and play with us, even if a couple of the adults are having a pint as well?

(I’m sorry for these weird questions- whilst we’ve cruised with Disney several times, I don’t drink & I normally just sit on deck and sunbathe! , so this trip is slightly different this time what with extended family and possibly colder weather in the mix!)

Can’t help with DCL I’m afraid but have experienced cruising to Norway (Fjords). Alcohol in the ports is hard to find and extortionate. In fact I joked about Norwegians trying to sneak on board to buy Cunard’s hideously priced wine that was cheaper than ashore.

If at Flam there is a microbrewery type pub right next to where the ships dock. Still expensive though.

With the beer mug you can carry it round or swap for a token, the choice is yours. You can keep it all day then get a token at the end of the day or you can keep the glass all week if you prefer.
We are on the August 18th Northern Europe cruise, we can’t wait!

You can play board games in the Promenade lounge I think, or O’Gill’s pub has some. I think O’Gill’s is open to children during the day?

My cousin will hopefully do one - I’m useless with technology and it takes me an hour to upload one photo! But if she sorts one out I’ll let you see it x
