I’m now unsure if it’s the actor or the film I’ve got wrong.
Yes he's English. Not sure if it was this film.

I remember there was some outcry a few years ago when a Chinese actress, ( if I can use that word ), played a Japanese role in Memoirs of a Geisha.

Looks like its going to be a really interesting series, a different take on history that's for sure judging from what I've read so far.

I don't think the colour of Jodie Turner-Smith's skin matters, I'm sure they cast the right person for the job baring in mind that Ann Boleyn's race or nationality isn't *particularly* important in her story.

I saw Jelani Alladin as Kristoff in Frozen Broadway--perfect for the role even though not really historically accurate. Also seen many white dominated productions of JCS, again, not historically accurate, but honestly when you're immersed in a good piece of theatre or TV etc you really don't think about skin colour.

Well, I don't anyway

Isn’t “particularly” important ? It’s changing historical fact!

The show is billed to be a psychological thriller, I think there are going to be a lot of things that deviate from reality. If you want historical accuracy then it isn't the show for you for many reasons.

It can be billed as anything it wants to be... and you are correct, I won’t be watching ... if I want fantasy I’ll watch Harry Potter!

I actually find the whole thing quite cynical. They have obviously cast her to cause comment. If I was her I wouldn't want to be used in that way. I won't be watching because having helped 3 children with their Tudors homework over the years I have had enough of Henry and his many wives to last me a lifetime.

It wouldn’t bother me - anyway, they are depicting animals, not humans of any colour!
