Shorter park hours in 2017 than 2016?

I know 2017 times for August 2017 haven't been fully confirmed yet but so far all the Parks are closing earlier than in 2016 for the same time

For the first 2 weeks of August last year, MK opened until at least 11pm every evening, and until midnight half the time. So far it's 9pm. Last year they had EMH for midnight to 2am. This year it's set for 9pm to 11pm.

Animal Kingdom was 11pm last year, its 10pm this but year

DHS was 9.30 last year and it's 8.30 this year

So experienced dibbers, are these times likely to be extended?

I'm going in July and HS hours have just been increased from 8.30 each night till 9.30.
I'm hoping the other parks will follow - 11pm felt early some nights in MK last year, 9pm would not be good.

Comparing March 2017 to March 2016 (for example), the opening times seem to be very similar. In fact, this year AK closed a couple of hours later than it did in 2016. The other parks closed around the same time as 2016.

Yes, I would expect the August times to be extended. Disney usually doesn't release the final version of the park hours until about a month beforehand.

Just to give a possible alternative opinion, i had heard on several podcasts that projections for attendance this year was looking light over the summer. If Disney believe this to be true from their own figures, maybe they are holding back hours?

Personally i hope it is a bit quieter, not that there is a quiet time!

Possibly.

Although last June/July attendance was slightly lower than expected and compared to the previous year. And yet Disney still decided to extend the opening hours for August. So who knows!

I guess we'll have to wait until July to find out.

Hope they do extend and confirm for the summer soon. I'm currently trying to get a final(ish) draft plan in order for our FP+ window opening soon and for when we go in June, Magic Kingdom is apparently closing at 9pm. Last year on the same dates it was opening to 11pm and midnight. It does have a knock on effect if they change the hours as it means that planned early rises/late park days may need rejigged to take advantage of the extended opening times.
