My sister lives in Marbella and she travels a lot! She always flies back to the UK and goes from Heathrow or Gatwick.

Having looked at pricing out of Madrid direct. I think via U.K. is cheaper

There are many ways to do this, depending on dates and levels of flexibility (including whether you are willing to stay a night somewhere on the way out, given the possible timings of flights from airports like Malaga or Sevilla). Obviously the desired airport destination in Florida also matters, from Spain Miami throws up different possibilities to MCO. A willingness to get yourself up to Madrid at the crack of dawn could also change things.

For example, looking at a random fortnight in March 2020, you could get from Malaga to MCO via DUB on Aer Lingus for under EUR 500 per person return, but it would involve an overnight in DUB (while giving preclearance though). A same-day arrival pushes it up to nearer EUR 700 per person, using KLM/Delta via AMS. Going via London, Frankfurt and Zurich are other options, but may involve overnights or two stops.

Really depends what your Florida trip is likely to be, in particular whether you wish it to start and/or finish in Orlando from a flight perspective. And of course, dates matter, in particular with Spain having slightly different leisure peaks compared to UK.

There might also be cheaper ways though buying separate tickets to London (e.g. on easyJet etc as mentioned above), and buying the transatlantic tickets ex-LON, but obviously such "connections" would not be protected, so advisable to leave plenty of time (ideally an overnight) between them with your holiday at stake.

Separately, if you're looking to visit the parks in Orlando, the WDW/Universal long stay ticket deals (eg 14 days for the price of 7 etc) used by many Dibbers, are not generally available for sale in Spain through official channels, they are offered specifically for the UK/Ireland market (despite that practice being somewhat questionable under EU law). There may well be ways round that, if you required such tickets.
