Mobile Amsterdam Help

Hi everyone.

We are going to Amsterdam for the weekend to celebrate my cousins birthday. Any suggestions in where to stay? Also any places of interest we shouldn't miss - Anne Frank house is already on the list & an evening boat cruise x

Thanks

Amsterdam accommodation can be quite pricey. We stayed at

Great location, great breakfast

If you haven't already booked your Anne Frank tickets you need to do this online before you go or you can't go in until late afternoon and the queue will be long .

We like the appletree hotel, easy walk from central train station so you don’t need a taxi from airport, great sky bar, I think worth extra for balcony & city view depending on budget

Last time we went, we stayed on a boat, courtesy of Airbnb. It was cramped and damp, but incredibly cheap and perfect for a party weekend. Not something I would recommend for anyone else :P

Other visits have been to Hotel Singel, beautiful small hotel, minutes away from the centre and central train station. Incredibly clean and very comfortable

At the other end of the spectrum, Grand Hotel Amrath, a five star hotel in a marvelous gothic building that used to be where Amsterdam's shipping trade was organised.

Can recommend an evening dinner cruise, very enjoyable. Many of the major tourist attractions are best booked well in advance. We usually go to mill about, eat and drink and generally enjoy some relaxed time and lots of people watching. On a sunny day, I can recommend the Heiffer on the edge of the RLD. Spent a number of enjoyable hours drinking beer, eating lunch and watching the antics of the revellers travelling in and out of the RLD

We stayed at the DoubleTree which is right above the train station, it was expensive but gives you the very best location to explore the city.

Some of our favourite attractions are;

Heinekken Museum
House of Bols
Nemo - Science exhibit
Musical & Arts Museums are all ok, but not really our thing
Red Light District
Try a Coffee Shop if you are feeling adventurous :P
