I've booked it on recommendation on here. It's pretty pricey though, albeit I've got a family suite, think it's about $450 a night.

I stayed at the farmers daughter, this was opposite the grove we loved it around there the hotels an acquired taste, but it hit our budget, clean rooms, lovely helpful staff and had a pool and nice restaurant even though it was called Tart.

Excited about Disney
|
We’ve just got back from LA on Monday and were really pleased with the hotels we stayed at.
For Disneyland we stayed at the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson in Anaheim. Got a great deal £315 for 3 nights in a King Room. Wasn’t sure what to expect but it was really nice. Rooms were themed/decorated in a beach/surfer style, free self parking and complimentary breakfast (hot and cold buffet). It was about 10 min walk to the park entrance but there were also shuttles available. Bed was really comfortable and nice bathroom with proper walk in shower (not stand in the bath job!). The pool looked nice too but we packed so much in we didn’t get time to try it. Overall, would recommend for Disney days. When visiting Universals and doing the studio tours we stayed at Hotel Amarano in the Burbank area. We had 3 nights in a deluxe king room. This is a Universal partner hotel. Quite small/boutique style, decor is lovely ( think old Hollywood, golden era of the movie studios) and very comfortable bed again. Walk in shower, huge room and good food in the bar area (good value during happy hour). Opposite the hotel is a retail park with a supermarket, Starbucks and a great breakfast cafe so not a bad location. The hotel was undergoing refurbishment while we were there but didn’t affect us. Watch out for the parking charges as they are steep but we booked direct with the hotel and got a deal for valet parking for a $1 per night. After a road trip to Vegas we came back to LA for a few chilled days by the coast in Manhattan Beach. We loved this area and stayed at The Belamar. Lovely little hotel, nice room, comfy bed and great food. Happy hour last for 3 hours most days so we made good use for both food and drink. Only a short drive to a beautiful beach and about 4 miles to the airport. Happy to answer questions on any of these if it helps anyone planning a trip

Lowes is next door to Hollywood and Highland Mall. There are a good few food options in the mall
Hard Rock Cafe Californian Pizza Kitchen Johnny Rockets Diner Mels Diner is down the road, about 5 minutes walk depending on crowds and if you get the pedestrian lights to cross the street. Farmers Market and The Grove have a lot of food options too, but its about 30 minutes from Lowes. You can get a bus or you can drive or take UBER. |

We stayed in Lowes as well (which I liked), think that we just went to coffee places for breakfast and cannot remember anywhere in particular. The Chinese Theatre courtyard is lovely first thing in the morning but that bit gets busy (and not very nice) around lunchtime. We enjoyed the tour of the Chinese Theatre. Also you can walk to the Hollywood Bowl from the hotel (worth it if you want to do the tour around there or see something).

There is a Denny's not from Lowes, but not in one of the nicest areas. in fact we parked the hire car in front of the windows so we could keep an eye on it, the Denny's was great though
