Harriet was very unhappy today when an unknown mature male came around and lingered for circa 2 hours. H made threatening noises to keep him at bay but he branched about 5 feet away from H protecting the nest, it appeared he was closely watching. Harriet held her incubation pose/keeping her eggs safe, which must've been hard as ordinarily she'd have chased the intruder away. He eventually left, hopefully not to return.

Hopefully the eagle won’t return, don’t want another Romeo & Juliet.

That's our Harriet Now, fingers crossed that E15 hatches asap as this nest is notorious fractious with the first hatched eaglet giving a regular pasting by repeatedly bonking the head/body of eaglet two. It makes many anxious watching the bigger eaglet picking on it's sibling.
Re the NE Fl, a younger, new couple, Samson and Gabrielle nest, still on egg watch but they were seen mating on the 19th Dec with nest preparation too... fingers crossed Gabrielle may lay soon giving us more eaglets to watch. For anyone new to this thread, HERE and HERE are the nests being watched via live cam. We're monitoring our two favourite island nests - nest immediately outside our friends home (very quiet road), female's brooding; watched the male filling his beak atop a dead palm tree, without sharing his bounty! The Galt Preserve eagles are brooding but we require binocs to monitor. They didn't hatch eaglets last year but it seems they're on track this season. Also watching 2 pair of baldies regularly soaring above the island pool with osprey, hawks, wood storks, pelicans, wood peckers and a myriad of other birds, bliss.

This has just broke my dream! I was awake at 4 with restless as and legs. I went back to bed and managed to sleep and was dreaming there was a nest with tiny blue eggs and an Eagle was sitting in the nest flicking the eggs out and then eating the inside of the egg.

Harriets nest has 4 cams in total, CAM1, CAM2, CAM360 and POND CAM, all are worth watching. For any teachers reading this, the mods on the Harriet and M15 nest offer classroom sessions where only questions from the children are accepted, shown and answered. I think so many UK kids would be awed especially as, hopefully, by the time they return from the holidays both eaglets should be in the nest.
An update, below, re the former Romeo and Juliet nest from the NE Fl site. I'm pleased that the mature female who killed and ate the eaglet born 25 Dec 2018 [on my birthday!] wasn't the baldie referred to as Gabrielle: Hail and Farewell As our viewers will remember, since 2008 Gretchen Butler has been carefully keeping records of this Bald Eagle nest, located in Northeastern Florida. The pattern of life in the Hamlet was predictable, with resident eagles, Romeo & Juliet, returning in early Fall to begin a new season, lay their eggs and raise eaglets to fledge. At the same time, they protected their nest from all intruders, keeping eggs and eaglets safe. They maintained an unprecedented 100% success rate over 10 seasons, raising 19 eaglets. However, last season was very different, as several large mature eagles disturbed the peace and tranquility of this nest. The expectations of the season ended in heartache as Juliet returned to the nest with an injury and was subsequently driven from the nest by a rival just days before the eggs were to hatch, leaving Romeo to do the work of two. When an egg hatched on Christmas Day 2018, a female eagle following Romeo to the nest swooped down and took the hatchling. This was not A2. A2 continued to be seen with Samson and they evolved into a bonded pair. For months, our viewers have called this beautiful eagle Gabby because she is so talkative, and in October 2019 she was officially given the elegant name Gabrielle by the NEFL team.
