Keeping your passport safe whilst out and about...

So. More thoughts!

What do you all do with your passports while you're out and about during your holiday? I guess it could be anywhere really, but I'm thinking specifically of Florida.

Do you keep them on you? Leave in the room in a safe? Leave at reception if in a hotel?

The reason I ask, is that we will be using a variety of accommodation while we're away; motels, apartments, hotels and villa. So we will have the passports and other valuables with us in person when travelling between places, and not everywhere has a somewhere secure.

Has anyone used a travel safe? And if you have, do you have any recommendations please?

I use a money belt under my clothes. I always carry my passport with me every since the September 11 attacks in New York. I was on holiday in New York when the planes hit the towers. On September 11, when New York was like a war zone, I was able to go to the Irish Embassy and talk to someone , as I had my passport with me.

I know this is an extreme example, but remember you are in a foreign country and your passport is the standard International form of ID. Having it on you , the original, not a photocopy can be very important if anything happens to you.

All very interesting, thank you!

We are staying in 8 different places, so there will inevitably be times when travelling between accommodation that leaving it in a safe is not a viable option.

Thanks for the suggestions x
