Good point hadn’t occurred to me if hotel booked through BA it turns it into a package. Was considering getting the car through BA for that reason but they don’t seem to discount car hire if booking “multi city” (cheapest price is currently flying into Tampa and out of MIA). Also I’ve never had an issue with Alamo and am inclined to stick with them and book through DFCH rather than book Avis or Budget.

We flew this year Gatwick to Tampa on 13th Oct and Miami to Heathrow on 26th Oct, we live 15 mins from Heathrow so prefer to fly into LHR when coming home. If you do the customise trip options with BA it turns it in a holiday and you can fiddle around with times/cars/hotels to make it suit. Always booked with AVIS through BA and not once have we had an issue.

Thanks for all the advice I’ve booked. Out via Tampa back via Miami. 2A1C £1300 including the car. Don’t expect to get much better than that. Didn’t include a hotel round Ft Lauderdale as BA prices weren’t any cheaper and wanted to do some research

Glad you’ve booked! That’s a great price, we paid £1900 for the 4 of us for this years flights so is about right!

We booked through expedia for Lauderdale, with cashback via Quidco & contacted the hotel direct regarding the late check out option. Enjoy the planning!

Not much to do now for a few months We already had a Dibb Condo booked but it’s nice to have the flights to go with it particularly when last week BA were quoting £2700 to fly into MCO

I’ll no doubt be back at some point to ask about hotels round Ft Lauderdale and what’s at Miami airport but that can wait!
