Once, on a Fjords cruise, the laundrettes were out of use. One evening we were having coffee with a couple of older ladies. They asked what we had been doing that day, we had been to a department store in Bergen and bought new underwear as we had not brought enough for 2 weeks. They then (seriously) told us that they each only brought 2 pairs of knickers, one for each week our faces must have shown our shock because they quickly explained that they put in a fresh panty liner every day.
When we stay in a villa and normally when we cruise, we wash our clothes before coming home. Dont want airport security rummaging through our unwashed stuff.

I always do laundry on holiday. I dont find it a major hassle and its easier than trying to take sufficient clothes for 2 or 3 weeks.

I dont wash it to bring home unless we are in a villa with a washing machine

I love coming home with clean washing, it's depressing enough as it is without doing multiple loads of washing with jet lag.

We always buy a small bottle of Tide and Downy for washing in the US. It's easy enough to do in a villa, takes no time at all. It was a bit trickier last year when we were road tripping but every few stops I made sure we had laundry facilities so I just did it when we got in from the day.

If we were staying somewhere with no laundry facilities I'd bring a small pot of washing powder to do in the sink or bath.

Exactly, no bloody way am I hand washing my knickers for the sake of putting them in a suitcase, they go in a carrier bag then into the washer when home. I have far better things to do on my holidays

Many years ago we got stopped at customs on our arrival back into Manchester. All our dirty underwear was in a bag - and they searched through it.
I was embarassed & disgusted & there was nothing to find.

When we stayed at OKW in a one bedroom there was a laundry room with a washing machine and tumble dryer in our villa which made it very convenient to put a load or two on and subsequently pack less. I took a few day's worth of clothes for a 10 night holiday. I think we used the couple of boxes of detergent that Disney provided or went to Walmart for a small pack of it.

I take enough (and more!) to last the holiday! Take a travel wash and generally never use it.

If I've stayed at a villa I have done some washing as it's easy enough to chuck washing into machine etc - but wouldn't go out of my way to do so.

Having said that I do recall using the laundry room at the Candy Cane Inn but that's the exceptional rather than the norm!
