Defrosting the turkey - maybe too late

I have just take the frozen turkey out the freezer. It's almost 5 kilos (11 pound in old money). I don't have a particular warm kitchen (I hate the house too hot) so will it defrost in time?

It’s a bit late to do it in the fridge but there are some other options here.

Get it in a bath of cold water.

I've left it on a plate on the worktop not in the fridge, but I may have find something big enough to put it iin to cover it with water.

The sink is in constant use, and unlike many wealthy dibbers we only have one sink in the kitchen

That's what I'm thinking, but I am not going to the shops to buy a new one (avoiding the shops at all costs) so I will have to rinse out my car washing bucket without the wife seeing or she will make a big fuss

Mine’s been out since early yesterday morning and the flipping thing is still frozen!
