Would you Book And Pay for Seats on BA for December

Hi

We have booked flights to Miami on 17/12/2021

Would you book and pay for seats this far in advance for 4 people.

Thinking about being further forward in the aircraft and the fact of keeping everyone together.

2 adults and 2 15 year old boys

I understand that like the voucher the seat payments would be refunded or transferred to new flights if compatible if covid restrictions prevent travel

I'd book for December but I never pay for seat allocation

I’m having the same thoughts. As it’s a 3-3-3 configuration, and there’s 4 of us, tempted to book the rear 2x2 seats on the return journey so we can recline with no one behind us. Going out, I’d get 3+1 across the aisle. Trouble is, it’s over £400 both ways - even using the small amount of Avios I have only reduces it by £100. Will probably make a decision nearer the time (or book the return flight only).

We have booked seats back , but we are returning from Washington DC late at night so always want family together if they want to sleep.. dont want my teenagers falling asleep all over a stranger

I was thinking outwards window, middle, aisle and aisle.

Last time i went through Miami the immigration was awful took about 2.5 hours

I would be happy to book for later in 2021, but would never pay for seats.

We have done both with BA, paid sometimes & other times waited till 24 hours beforehand, I prefer an aisle seat so I’d rather pay £50 or so to guarantee it.
One year we forgot to do seats 24 hrs before & I ended up between 2 loud American men, one of them drunk, never againI stood at the back for most of the flight
Made it worse they knew each other but didn’t want to sit next to each other
If you’re not fussed take your chances

I have a BA PE booking for October but haven't booked any seats. I check every week or so to see what is free and so far, apart from the bulkheads which are blocked out, not one seat - out or back - has been reserved yet. Unless it starts filling up, I won't be spending the extra money.

Yes I have booked and paid for mine, at least I know that we will be together. It cost £327 going out but coming home got a free upgrade to pe and only paid £200 for seats coming back. 😊

I am planning on booking my seats for the way home so that I know my children (13 and 16) and I will definitely be together and I can sleep without worrying about them asleep next to strangers. Think I will risk it for the way out though, they won’t sleep and it will save a fortune
