Not for me - cant stand the things. I guess we never had then when growing up as such and for me they are in the same category as folk having bread and butter with meals. Don't see the point unless used to fill the stomach instead of meat and veg - give me more meat and veg please lol

Oh my goodness, my boys demand Yorkies with every single type of roast, not just beef. They're a permanent Sunday Fixture here!

My daughter has Yorkshire puddings on her Toby breakfast 🤮 with gravy, sausage, bacon, beans and eggs 😂
I think she is crazy 😜

Exactly the point of Yorkshire puddings amongst less than wealthy folk. Designed to fill you up so you wanted less roast beef. Nice specimens caj - if you don't mind me saying. Yorkshire born and bred but we had no idea that it had a saint's day either. Mick

As ever, you demonstrate astute intuition.
They were originally served as a starter to fill the tummy up as, being made with relatively inexpensive ingredients, it would mean less of the more pricey stuff being consumed afterwards! |

They look lovely! My batter mixture is ready in the kitchen to go with our roast pork today. DH likes cold Yorkshire’s with golden syrup on - apparently this was a thing in his house growing up!

Well, they're essentially puffed up pancakes aren't they, and quite neutral in flavour, so I can see how that would work!

Although Yorkshire farming stock blood runs through my veins my dad hailed from Smethwick near Birmingham and his family always had them as pudding with jam.
I suppose it's not much of a leap from YP batter to pancakes though. Are we all ready? Real lemon juice and sugar for me. Joan prefers Golden Syrup. Mick
