But it's not either /or it's both. There is some evidence the vaccine reduces spread.

They dont want people dying or seriously I'll on board and people have had tests prior to cruising and still become positive.

So they are simply trying to cover all bases to get moving and restore confidence.

May not suit everyone but that's the gamble for the cruise lines.

My daughter is only 12 so thats us out for a good while. Makes me feel sad. I wouldn't have worried about travelling with her not having a vaccine. Wonder will countries follow his also ?

I dont think these regulations will last too long, its about political and personal confidence so they can get moving

I think the cruise companies are really keen to avoid having positive cases on board - the spread of COVID-19 on several cruises last year was really not a good look for them! They might therefore have more stringent requirements to begin with perhaps?

(There are "cruises to nowhere" where I am at the moment. People who want to go on these cruises need to have negative COVID-19 tests prior, and they all board the ship and cruise for a couple of days before returning. There was a false positive on one of these cruises sometime last year - they locked down everyone in their rooms and returned to port a day early and gave (partial?) refunds, and cancelled the next sailing - this must not have been cheap for the cruise company!)

People who have the vaccine can still contract and emit the virus so I don’t see the logic.
I won’t be having my kids vaccinated for an illness that is highly likely not to harm them, well not until we know more long term data, not at all disputing the vaccine use for older people but I need to see more evidence before I let my kids have it.

Cruise off the cards for now then!
