it is what most airlines do anyway - if you want to sit near the front of economy (to get off quicker) then it will cost more.
Ryanair, Easyjet and Flybe have always done this.

I fully expect most airlines to be making little changes to try and claw some money back. £10 to select my seat im ok with. ill make up for it with the copious amounts of alcohol ill sink.

This is how they hope you would think, except the changes made a few years ago meant that classic fairs were increased to build in the cost of seat reservation, so its not really £10 its probably £40 you are paying for the seat, its just partly built into the fare.

How long before the Bar becomes payable? Maybe free wine with meal then pay for hard drinks after? It's what Delta do I think and this is the model Virgin are copying.

To be honest i fully expect that to happen. When i say copious amounts of alcohol, i joke.. i have a 2 max. Airlines run on a tiny profit and with everything that has gone on i expect most to introduce extra fees for services.

I got the email, and whilst I am on a Virgin plane, I’ve actually booked with Delta!
I’ve also got economy delight seats, so I’m hoping I don’t need to do anything.

Within a few years, I doubt there be any difference between Easyjet and Virgin, Cabin baggage on the light fares I can see being removed in the future too, it a race to the bottom, has been long before covid and can only be accelerated now.

We booked a few months ago for Aug and at the time we picked our seats. After we received the email I thought I’d just check that our seats were still selected. Turns out that since we booked the plane type has changed and now has different seating lay out and we were no longer all sitting next to each other.

Only too 2 mins to change them, but if you have previously booked seats you might want to double check all is good.

I’ve also noticed that we are no longer on the ‘new interior’ planes from Manchester either on the outward or return flight. Looks like they are no longer refreshing the interior of planes or have just switched planes completely.
