I've been on Explorer 2 and was told, many times, by other passengers that the Discovery 2 has a much better layout and is better overall. I think the main point of difference is that the Discovery 2 has an atrium as a central feature. I liked Explorer 2 as it's adults only!

I'm a member of an Explorer 2 Facebook group and there is so much information on there like, cabin photos, restaurant reviews, separate groups for sailing dates, bar and restaurant menus. The best thing I did before our first cruise was to join and get some tips about the ship. There's a similar group for Discovery 2 as well.

We sailed on Dream twice and loved her and are still mourning her demise. In thr Facebook group for her, thr generally opinion is that the Discovery ships have a much nicer feeling than the explorer ships with a more similar atmosphere to the older smaller Marella liners.

It really was ...loved how compact it was and the staff were superb weren’t they ...and watching the shows in the Broadway lounge bouncing all over the place from the ship vibrations 😂

That’s a shame ..didn’t realise the dream had gone aswell ...unbelievable how many ships are being beached for scrap at the moment ..loads of carnival ones

Loved Discovery 2, we went on a two week
Caribbean cruise on her, visited some amazing places, Costa Rica, Havana, Colombia. We are a couple in our early 40’s and thought it was really good, in January there was hardly any children on it. Food fab, entertaining fab, staff fab, Captain fab, would def recommend it. We’d normally go Royal Caribbean or NCL but Marella was really good too.
