It’s a pretty subjective one. How long extra can you go for if staying offsite? Do you need the extra space you might get being off site? What time of year are you going? Could you go to a cheaper onsite resort?

Are you just doing Disney, or doing off site parks / attractions as well?

If I was just doing Disney I wouldn’t want to be anywhere other than on site. But as we tend to do off site places as well, for next year it made sense to stay on site for the Disney part of the holiday and then get a car and villa for the last week when we do universal etc.

Why not do both, one week onsite and the second week in a villa?

Excellent suggestion - best of both worlds. If you can get free dining for the onsite part that will cut your costs - also no need to have a car while onsite - pick your car up at either the car care centre by mk or at the dolphin as you check out of your resort. We used the dolphin when we stayed at beach club - really easy - sent DH and boys to pick the car up while I finished packing, then went for a last swim in storm along bay before heading to the villa.

I think the extra week and Discovery Cove would swing it for me, I think staying onsite is Amazing and easier if you don’t drive. It’s such a difficult choice., you can get a suite off site or a villa and onsite it’s a room or paying quite a lot of money for eg Old Key West. I hope you can decide, but price would be a huge factor for me.
