I always do Twilight Check-In. This trip our flight is at 10.10am and we're booked into the V-Room so it'll just be the bed at Premier Inn then across the road and into security about 7am ready for breakfast and comfy chairs in the V-Room before take off.

I always go for 4 hours at least even when staying at the airport, to the point when check in hasn’t even opened 😊
To be honest I wouldn’t leave it any later than 3 hours but that is because our holiday starts as soon as we hit the airport /hotel night before. We love going through duty free and getting a bite airside.
We want to relax as much as possible before the flight so get the stressful bag check / security stresses over as soon as we can. Then we will shop (if we see something), eat (either via lounge booking or airside eateries), then spend a little time reading, puzzles, watching stuff on ipad etc until gate opens and boarding

At Gatwick About 2.5 hours which is more than enough for us. Security, coffee and a bacon roll, magazines and water bought, go to gate.

If I’m going into a lounge (especially VA’s Clubhouse) I get there much earlier

If we fly from our local airport (Exeter) I’d allow an hour because it’s so small.

We go through a minimum of 3 hours before the flight. Once I'm through I don't care what goes wrong with computer systems, parking, blocked roads, train, taxi or bus strikes or anything else, I am in the right place at the right time so I am going.
