Question Virgin Airmiles refund following cancellation?

I mistakenly booked a Virgin Holiday when I was pricing up a few trips for 2021. This was due to doing this online and the airmiles I had covered the deposit, thus did not need to add any bank card details. I cancelled it today but lost my deposit paid in Virgin Airmiles. I've explained what happened and asked if I can get my airmiles back. I accept this was my fault but I was totally unaware it had happened until I received the confirmation email
Has anyone had any experience of getting airmiles refunded?

Wouldn’t you be covered by the distance selling regulations - can cancel within 14 days penalty free? Good luck!

Unfortunately holidays aren't covered by the Consumer Contracts Regulations.

When I had to cancel our trip for December, I rang Flying Club and they refunded the air miles we’d used to upgrade to PE, and the tax as well.

The holiday itself was booked through VH and they refunded both the deposit, and the cost of the flights which we’d paid off early in order to be able to upgrade and choose our seats.

How soon did you cancel? I thought there was 24 hours cooling off period for internet sales.
