BA lgw - mco

Hi,

Can anyone tell me whether BA’s planes on this route are now all refurbished? We have a 3-4-3 10 seat configuration showing on the seat map.

We usually fly Virgin. How does BA WT compare to Virgin’s economy product? Is the food and IFE better / worse?

Many thanks!

Not all refurbished yet, but the majority of the LGW 777 fleet is refurbished and any LGW 777 aircraft with 3-4-3 configuration in economy is refurbished. Do bear in mind that equipment swaps can still happen, but you are likely to remain with the refurbished aircraft.

It will have the latest IFE, which while I am not making a comparison with Virgin, is very good. The food and drinks are the same regardless of refurbishment or not.

Many thanks Peko.
I take it there is the usual 3 option meal selection early in the flight and then the standard “afternoon tea” closer to landing?

On BA in economy, it’s usually a choice of 2 mains (mostly something chicken-based or a veggie pasta).

The second meal is more likely to be a wrap or maybe a pizza, there have been improvements recently on the second meal. Don’t think there is afternoon tea in economy on BA. The food is less appealing on the return, especially breakfast.

Main meal in economy then a wrap/sandwich light 'tea' about about 2 hours to landing , not forgetting the magnum ice cream which comes around about half way through! Roughly... one drinks run early and you can wander to the galley for more drinks if needed

Many thanks! The Magnum will certainly be better received than the Fab!

Does that mean the seat width is less?

My DS is 6ft 4 inches tall and I'm about the same wide(joking but def a larger lady) so I need either 2x2 seat configuration OR as wide as poss in economy as traveller plus is way off my budget for summer hols flying lgw to mco.

any idea width of older seats versus newer seats and how does virgin on the same route compare?

many thanks

I am size 20/22 and fitted the seats okay and from memory I think they are 1-2 inches narrower than before. I think at 6ft4" most leg room in economy would be tight and if he is able bodied it might be worth booking exit row seats for extra leg room but avoid the one nearest the window as due to the shape of the door the leg room is not as generous.
