Anyone changed airports in London on BA

I'm monitoring flights for MAN-MCO 3/4/20 - 19/04/20 (Easter Hols)

On Skyscanner the best (cheapest) option is via LHR and transferring to LGW with a 3hr window. Whilst on paper this looks ok, I know there are buses and I'd probably book a private taxi, I can't imagine this looking too good on the return leg when we're tired?

We've travelled indirect a few times usually via a US hub and a single airport (PHL and ATL), and had delays but worked out ok in the end.

The price makes it attractive, as being Easter school hols it's £418 each (£1670 for 2a,2c). Compared to double that for the next nearest indirect flights.

We transferred from Gatwick to Heathrow for our return in 2017, booked with BA transfers (nothing to do with the flying BA) after some very good reviews on here.

When we landed and I turned my phone on there was a txt from our driver, he was stood outside as we left customs and helped us with our bags to the minibus which was immaculate.

Really smooth experience and would definitely use them again.

We were a bit tired having it indirect on the way home but for the money we saved it was worth it.

So generally it's fine, but just this week the M25 closed due to jack-knife lorry and the time between LHR and LGW was over 3 hours not even thinking about baggage collection, and re-checkin times

Generally it is fine, but unless the saving is fantastic, the stress and possibility would have me avoiding it.

You could try phoning BA and see if you can get a flight down last thing, pay for your own overnight hotel and get the flight the next day - gives you a healthy delay buffer

Ive done this a few times.
Never had an issue, touch wood.

We always book a private taxi, arrive around 9am in LHR and then get the 1pm flight out of Gatwick.

We’re doing this on the way home this year. How long do you give yourself to get out of customs? We land in gatwick 6.55, what time would you book the transport for?

I'd book transport for 8am assuming you have a few hours before your next flight.

We did it last summer but booked the flight from Manchester the day before. Meant we could take our time going from Heathrow to Gatwick, cheap overnight hotel at Gatwick and ready for the flight to Orlando the next morning. Would happily do that again.

i looked at this very route, however, didnt fancy it with the kids - therefore resorted to driving to LHR and connecting in PHL to Tampa.

Not ideal - not then at £300 a flight in peak summer season it is worth it in my opinion.
