My daughter has an app that solves the rubix cube. You fill in where the colours are and it generates the solution. It always amazes me that it usually doesn’t take many steps to solve it!

At least you have completed it, that's a major life achievement 😍😉

We didn’t have apps in the 80s when we did it. There are actually only three or four different ranges of moves needed to complete the cube after the first face is done. There is one range of moves to get the second row complete (which you will need to repeat multiple times of course). Then there is something to get the middle tiles of the third row in place and finally there is a range of moves to complete each bottom corner, to repeat as you do each in turn. It doesn’t need instructions or an app, you just need to be able to remember three or four sets of moves. Which unfortunately I don’t think I can anymore.

Completed it hundreds of times as a child. We used to have races.

My son can complete it in seconds and with his eyes closed 🤦 he has loads of different ones, different shapes and some with about 60 tiny squares per side.

I used to be able to do it , all I can remember though was that you had to get the 4 corners and middle done first with all the same colour, after that it was very easy if I remember rightly?

I saw a video of Justin Beiber completing one a few years ago, if he can do it, so can I, so I googled it and learnt the steps.

I taught my daughter, who is now 10, and she can complete it in under 2 minutes. I could only follow the moves I was shown, but she sees patterns and can turn the cube around and do moves together - it blows my mind.

She now has several different cubes and a mirror cube, which amazes me to watch her do it. Other kids take their cubes into school for her to complete
