We once booked a fantastic restaurant in Las Vegas (Olives in Bellagio) for our first night & both almost fell asleep in the middle of it as it was our arrival night, to the point we almost but not quite, did not even finish the most expensive bottle of wine we have ever ordered for my DH's birthday!
QS every time in Florida remember you are 5 hours behind your home time, remind your wife of that!

Beach Club is our favourite resort. We always collect our mugs from the Beach Club marketplace, fill them up, walk slowly around to the Boardwalk pizza window and refill our mugs in the bakery whilst waiting for our pizza to be cooked. We sit outside taking in the beautiful surroundings and despite being tired, cherish the fact that we have arrived 'home' for our vacation. By the time we have eaten and wandered slowly back we are all ready for bed but it is the perfect start for us.
For your wifes' benefit, why don't you book Cape May for an early ADR on your second night. This is what we do as still adjusting and its nice to then know we don't have to travel to eat after perhaps a nice afternoon around the pool. Have a wonderful vacation x |

Definitely go QS. Our flight was delayed around an hour and immigration took forever. Didn't get checked in at the resort until 9pm Orlando time! We were dead by that point. I'd hoped we could go to DS and get a QS meal but we ended up eating at the food court as we just needed food and bed.

We usually stay at Y&BC. By the time we arrive at BC, check in, find our room and unpack, check out the resort etc we never feel like sitting for a full meal after eating on the plane etc (especially in a restaurant as noisy as Cape May) so we often just either walk around the lake to the Boardwalk or into Epcot WS and enjoy a counter service meal or a drinks and snacks, keeping the TS credit towards a Signature meal next night. Last year we booked Beaches and Cream for a change and ended up leaving some, and getting dessert to go.

As you can get delayed and lose $10 per person for a no show, we always just have a CS meal or have some food at the bar and pay OP . No one usually very hungry as we have been up so early and body clock tells us it’s 11pm even if the clock says 6pm !

I would book Cape May Cafe for a very early breakfast the following day rather than the arrival evening. We are two adults, we adjust quite easily and would probably spend the evening in a park. But we still wouldn’t book a TS, not only is there a risk of missing it, but also we simply wouldn’t feel like a good feed at that time.

Definitely don't book a sit-down meal or make any plans, especially with kids! It might be 3pm US time but it's late in the UK and your bodies will still be on that time. Every time we have got to our villa, the kids have fallen asleep on the sofas before DH has got back from Publix with the cooked chicken and salad for tea 😂

As others have said, 5/6 o'clock at hotel by the time you get settled in ,perhaps quick shower walk round to get your bearing quick snack and all of a sudden its 8.30 real time 1.30. Rarely night and up and at it first thing.

I think reading through this thread it seems the overwhelming agreement is to do QS on the first night, and I completely agree! Keep in mind that jet lag (assuming travel from the UK) means that while it's 7pm in MCO you'll feel like it's midnight, so might well struggle to get through a TS meal.
Oh and the advantage of keeping things simple on arrival day means hopefully sleeping early (due to jet lag) and thus waking up bright and early the next day to hit rope drop!
