In the Splash mountain line we were speaking to an American lady - from Nooo Yaaaaaawk, talking about whether we would get wet or not.

When we came out the other end there was a massive yell "Heyyyyyyy English youse all get wet?" - she had a very loud, very scary voice...

(reminded us of "It was moyda" from the Hart to Hart credits - blast from the past)

We hadn't and she had - a lot - some of the language that followed was not repeatable - but shouted VERY loudly indeed in front of many children! Some of the things people overheard that day would have been an education!

We were at rainforest cafe and a woman started shouting very loudly at some small children “who’s butt is this?” And waving a camera. Her husband was trying to calm her but nothing could and she kept shrieking about who’s butt it was and that she was going to tell their parents.

We have just returned from a 17 night trip - 2 weeks on AMI and I lost count of the amount of people who asked if we were from Australia.

Apparently the Australian and Welsh accents sound very similar

One of the best we’ve heard was at animal kingdom, while doing the gorillas trail we were stopped in front of the main viewing area and an American woman asks her husband “what animals are these” to which he responds “no idea”. Despite a sign right in front of them, and the fact that they are quite clearly gorillas

We love this thread, so many things to laugh about

As others have said Americans have no idea of the world outside of America

we got stuck on hogwarts express for a while with an american family, when it went tech

on finding out we were english they bombarded us with questions about schools in England, if they are like hogwarts or newer

they asked if the uniforms in Hogwarts are just made up as surely they dont dress like that

i whipped out my phone and had my daughters first day in Y3 pic , complete with shirt/tie , cardigan with school logo on, grey knee socks with black shoes , they were utterly amazed kids actually dressed this for school

We were once in the nightclub at city walk (pre kids ) and 2 ladies were arguing about where we were from, one was saying Australia, the other was saying Europe (I assumed she meant the UK haha!) I went to the bar to get some Tequila slammers and they watched me gob smacked for some reason - literally both stared at me open mouthed wide eyed while I ordered, waited for the drinks, then drunk mine (taking the other one to DH) so I smiled and went to walk off "hey lady, where you from?" I said "England" they both gasped and said "that explains A LOT - you english are crazy ass mother f****rs when it comes to alcohol, you like to get f***ed up girlfriend, that's cause y'all are given alcohol at 18" I was just like "urm, ok but I only did 1 shot, not everyone drinks in England you know" then they went on to ask if I knew the queen so I told them she was my Gran and they asked if we had ever seen sheep so DH told them we have them in our back garden, everyone does and you can ride them - apparently they couldn't wait to get back to their "girlfriends" and tell them this newly acquired knowledge they had been given

Last year I decided to buy some new Mickey ears at a booth in Frontierland for my DD. The CM was so lovely, asking all sorts of questions about the UK, just generally having a chat.
He stated "you Brits are always so polite (my DD had said thank you), so sweet and ALWAYS happy and pleasant. I have NEVER met a rude Brit, and I have been working here for 10 years..".
My response...
"you clearly aren't trying hard enough."

On a visit to Paris we booked dinner at the Eiffel Tower followed by a river cruise.

Seated at our table were a lovely American family. The son was a lawyer and very interested in the history of Europe. He asked us breathlessly if it was true that some of the cathedrals dated from, like 100BC?

We had to explain that they didn’t have cathedrals BC because, well, there was this guy Jesus and um...

The guy had the grace to laugh and blame it on jetlag!
