Happy... far too noisy inside now compared to the new aircraft. Never seen the fascination with them.

Not been on anything new recent so can't compare only issue I can see is same demand but less seats available so prices increase

Will miss them as very first US trips in early 80s were on 747 and, along with Concorde, it looks distinctly different to all the twin-engined tubes out there (whilst looking ‘right’ in a way that the 380 doesn’t).
But I get that it’s now time for it to go and it helps that the 787 and 350 genuinely move the dial in terms of comfort/experience and hopefully we’ll see more advances like this as Boeing and Airbus compete to outdo each other. |

I guess it'll be a sad day, we flew to Miami back in 1980 on a PanAm DC10, they didn't have a great rep for staying in the sky. For some reason the return was cancelled and we had to fly to NY and get a Jumbo back to Heathrow... WOW thought I had won the pools.
It was quite unusual for a "normal" 22 year old worker to be holidaying in Florida back then and to actually fly on a Jumbo jet made it seem even more unreal. We got one back from NY a couple of years ago, luckily snagged the back row of 2 seats and it did seem dated but, like steam trains, I guess there will be a lot of nostalgia about the "Queen of the skies" being pensioned off for those of a certain age. |

I will be sad to seen the Queen of the sky go, but technology moves on.
Until we go beyond the speed of sound at normal prices, I don’t feel we have progressed that far. |

50 year old design times move on, if air travel is to continue then we need new smaller more efficient less noisy aircraft
interestingly i watched a documentary on the 747 it was created as a cargo plane, hence the hump for seats the rest cargo space, as it was widely expected with the advent of concorde supersonic passenger airliners would be the norm with the less urgency needed for freight taken up by the 747 Edited at 07:58 PM. |

Times move on, but I will be sad to see the end of the 747. Wonderful machine.
