Heathrow to Gatwick
Our flights in October have been changed by BA, one of the alternatives they have offered is Newcastle to Heathrow, landing at 0725, then a coach to Gatwick, leave Gatwick at 1115. Has anyone done this, is it feasible?!

Will you need to check in for the Gatwick flight? Is it a weekday?
If it is a weekday, no I would not take this option. I might at the weekend. |

its certainly do-able, but at that time of morning I would be concerned about rush-hour. Are you travelling on a weekday or weekend? My concern would be that despite not necessarily needing to check-in at Gatwick, you would have just 3 hours to get to the airport and sometimes at rush-hour this can be a stretch. Personally, I'd opt for an overnight at Gatwick and not have to deal with the stress of that transfer

I would assume that you'd get fast tracked with check-in etc as this was a change by BA out of your control..
However it all depends on the M25 traffic really, but I personally think this could be done but would be tight.

Thanks both, it’s on a Saturday. I know you need to collect bags at Heathrow but then do you just do a bag drop at Gatwick or full check in again? If that’s even a thing!

if its a Saturday then it would be possible but the M25 is an unpredictable beast and can have massive delays as when it likes!

If the flights are connected, they might check you in and issue boarding cards before the first flight. Otherwise you could check in online and then bag drop, although I am not sure it saves much time.
Being on a Saturday, I think it is just about doable, but I would have great anxiety. |

Sorry, as I don't know where you're from/your situation it's hard to offer advice but would Edinburgh be an option for you with a direct flight in the morning

I am doing on a Friday in August. BA are saying it will be fine time wise and if not, they will put us on the next flight. I did it cause it was stupidly cheap for 6 of us, but if I had a choice, I wouldnt

Can you take your first flight on the Friday evening, travel to Gatwick and stay in a hotel overnight?
