I owe the OP a beer! After trying for days at various times I finally got through to BA. I was paying £560 odd for a Ford edge. I've now got a double upgrade to a suburban and still got a £70 refund. BOOM

So if I have read this thread correctly then I have a 24 day hire booked of a group S booked with a value of £884 according to the site. If I select Group L it quotes £864 so including £25 admin its going to cost me an additional £5 to upgrade from S to L?
Do I just call BA and ask for the cost of upgrading to a group L car?

Yes, I would give them a call. From what I can gather the prices shown are indicative rather than exactly the amount. Also some have said that it may change more than once a day.
In any case I'd phone them. Hope you get a good deal.

Trend seems to be the quotes on the site link detailed on page 1 are about upto £100 more, so the savings you get could be greater.
Give them a Call for a quote.

Every time I have checked and rung the price on the phone has been circa £100 less than the upgrade cost, (usually give or take £5-£10) including the admin charge. If that were me, and the quote online was £864, I would be expecting to ring up and it be about £770 (including £25 admin, so circa £745/£750 without the admin charge) so I would upgrade and expect to get around £100 refunded!
Give it a go and let us know the outcome! Ring as early as possible to get through quickly and check daily as it changes constantly! Just to note, when I rung the other day, the first 2 times it spewed out a message about being too busy and to call back or go online and cut me off, the 3rd time (all instant redials) it put me in a queue and I was only in the queue 10/15 mins so keep trying |

Just an update, I called and upgraded our car for our May trip, nice little £75 refund, so very happy and a bigger suv.
As I posted when we arrived ( las) , we had a very miserable lady who served us, and gave us the initial car car we had booked ( not the upgrade) , despite the upgrade going through with ba and the new paperwork, she was adamant that it was only showing on her system as the original car. As we were tired we took the car given , we’ve had this model a few times so it was fine and we could cope with it, and I thought I would sort it once we got back. Emails back and forth via ba , and nothing forthcoming from Avis . In the end to give ba their credit, they refunded us £417 ! Considering what we paid for our flights we were amazed. So just wanted to let you all know Jules
