Wasn’t is made by BBC America? That’s not quite the same as the bbc as we know it. It’s an American paid for channel part owned by the BBC and AMC

That's right, BBC America doesn't receive funding from the licence fee.

Yes, none of the BBC licence fee goes to BBC America which is an American pay fee network.

yeah read that last night series one was first aired in europe on RTE in Ireland before the UK had it...
