Absolutely amazing ideas & places to visit, thank you so much 😊! We will have two dogs with us and lots of the suggestions we can take them along as well. Really looking forward to a staycation this year. I haven’t been Devon/Cornwall in around 15 years and when I did it was as a teenager.

Agree with suggests also look at the steam railway from totnes to buckfastleigh. Rare breeds farm at totnes and the butterfly sanctuary at buckfastleigh

Dartmoor is accessible from newton abbot and has lovely walks for dogs but on a lead.

Have a look at the hidden valley in Cornwall. Near to launceston so easily reached by A30. Can take dogs on leads for the outside attractions. Just not allowed in the buildings. Is a sort of crystal maze/puzzle type challenges. Really good day out.

In Perranporth there is a new place called The Shack. It is literally that, on the high street. It's takeaway food at it's best! They make their own burgers, chicken dishes and bread - all locally sourced. It's only been open since last year but already gets rave reviews. We loved it when we there in April. In fact we did a similar trip to you - a few days in Devon, Cornwall before heading off to Minehead and Weymouth in the last few days (the joys of a touring caravan!) Have spent many happy holidays down the West Country over the years

My first thoughts (Pennywell and the South Devon Railway) have already been suggested.
If you would like a good walk I would recommend Lydford Gorge near Tavistock (National Trust), a great walk through a valley & waterfall.

The other would be to go horse riding on Dartmoor, we use a stable just north of Tavistock, but Im sure there is probably somewhere closer to Newton.

I think my girls would love the hidden valley, despite growing up near Tavistock and regularly travelling down to see family, we’ve never been and it sound perfect for them...

Adrenaline Quarry near Liskeard is a great day out. Stand up paddle boarding at Decoy Park in Newton abbot is also great and costs £15 for an hour, wetsuit hire included. River Dart County Park, Woodlands theme park, Crealey theme park. Salcombe is a beautiful place to visit too. Newquay is a great seaside town and Tintagel has ruined castle remains on a headland and is breathtaking with great pasties in the local shop.

The Minack Theatre is my special place in Cornwall. I just adore it. We've never managed to see a show there as the one time we booked it was cancelled! But it's so lovely to visit during the day. Afterwards you can go down to Porthcurno beach which is just stunning, you'll think you're in the med. We've seen dolphins right up to the beach.

The other place we love is Carbis Bay which again is a stunning beach. We often park there and walk to St Ives and back along the coastal path, stopping for lunch and a mooch in St Ives.

Last visit we did the Seal Sanctuary which was food fun too! Was not impressed by the Eden Project the time we did that.
