Bringing teenagers to Vegas
Just throwing a few ideas around for dh 50th. A few years away yet. Anyway I know he would love to return to Vegas, however bringing our two youngest would be easiest option. They will be 14 & 17 at the time.
Just wondering has anyone brought their teens to Vegas and how did it work out. |

Hi took my son who was 15 and he enjoyed it, we did shows, hoover dam and Grand Canyon, we also took him to circus circus but he wasn't impressed with that only passed an hour there, but he did enjoy Madame Tussauds and wandering through the various hotels. we bought the power pass for visiting the attractions

Our DD (14) loved Vegas. The only problem we found was that she couldn't be with in so many feet of any slot machine etc. Quite difficult when they are everywhere. Actually got told off by security staff when waiting at the gate to board the plane home! Still found lots to do. We went on a river rapid cruise down the colorado river (not rough water) it was fantastic, water beutiful and clear, great scenery, definately recommend it. (take plenty of Sun cream and a hat)

We took our 12 and 13 years old to vegas, stayed in Luxor, which they loved, cannot even stop to look at the casino never mind touch any machines( which is fair enough) with kids as security are very keen to move you on but the various hotels were fascinating and found a good local mall, apart from the usual hoover dam and grand canyon etc.

QWe took DD with us alst July, she loved Vegas, like others said, shows are excellent, and just viewing the resorts was excellent, and Freemont st was a good night as well. Left DD watching the lions at MGM while i played the machines, was not a problem

We took our 10 year old DS to Vegas for my 40th.
We had a great time - saw 3 shows and visited The Grand Canyon. DS loved the White lions at The Mirage. |

Went in 2009 with our DDs who were 16 & 14 at the time. They loved looking round all the themed hotels. We saw a show, spent a day at Red Rock Canyon after visiting a chocolate factory and the Hoover Dam en route, went to the Secret Garden at the Mirage (white tigers) visited Fremont Street and had a helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon. Went to the top of the Stratosphere, spent a morning geo-caching and went to the CSI Experience.
Plenty for them to do but Vegas does have its seedy side as well with cards being openly given out advertising 'girls'. We knew all about this from a previous visit without kids but just so you are aware. Debra

Something to be aware of it you take older children to Vegas is the curfew laws. On the Strip and the surrounding streets, this means that children under the age of 18 are not allowed to be in a public place without a parent or legal guardian after 10pm. Some public holidays the curfew can start even earlier. This is enforced, and tourists are obviously under the same obligation to follow the law as locals.

Have taken DS twice - ages 12 and 13. We all loved it and found loads to do. He particularly enjoyed the rides on the top of the Stratosphere.
Suppose it will be a different holiday if we return either without him or when he's old enough to gamble. HTH
