Return Flights MCO-LAS

Hi all,

We're in the process of trying to figure out a split trip for around November 2012 with 7 nights in WDW and 6 nights in Las Vegas.

We had thought that the best/cheapest way to arrange this flight wise would be to book a return flight from UK to MCO, then use an internal return flight from MCO to LAS, however, it seems like this is really expensive - somewhere in the region of £250 each for the internal flight alone.

We ideally want to fly MCO to LAS on 17/11/2012 and return from LAS to MCO on 23/11/2012, but we could potentially be slightly flexible (i.e. do a Friday flight instead of Saturday) if it brings the price down substantially.

Is this the best way for us to arrange our travel for a trip like this, or is there a better (i.e. cheaper!) way we could approach it?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, have spent the best part of an hour getting severely annoyed at flight websites!

Wouldn't it be easier to fly into LAS and home from MCO or vice versa? That would cut down on wasted travelling time, too. Then you would just have to get a single flight between them.

You could do this by booking a multi city flight (I've never found it changes the price substantially if at all) with one of the US carriers, alternatively VA or BA fly direct to both MCO and LAS and you could pick up a separate internal flight to get from MCO to LAS or vice versa.

Oh, and for November 2012 you are too early to book scheduled flights, really.

Yeah, we can't book those exact dates yet, but we're just trying to get an idea of the cost by booking dates similar to that.

When we looked at doing a one way flight to MCO, internal one way transfer to LAS, then one way flight from LAS back to the UK, it seemed extremely expensive, with single flights costing almost as much as a return - are we missing something?

I agree with Karen, we booked a multi trip flight that went Dublin to San Francisco then Orlando back to Dublin. We then booked a one way flight from LAX to Orlando.

There was the option to book a 3 part multi trip flight so you could book UK to LAS, LAS to MCO and then MCO back to the UK and that option might even be cheaper than booking the 3 flights separately.

You'd need to have a play around on some of the airlines websites to get a schedule that works for you and then keep an eye on the flight prices once they are released.

Also, we chose to do the West Coast first. We figured we'd get the longest journey out of the way plus when we flew back to Orlando we'd have the extra 3 hours time difference in our favour and finally a shorter flight home.

I agree with PP, fly to LAS, do an internal flight and fly back from MCO.

You don't need 2 x singles for your international flights - look at the "multi-city" option which will allow you to fly into one aiport and return from another.

In 2010 we flew with US Airways MAN-LAS (via PHL), LAS-MCO and MCO-MAN (via PHL). Not sure if they still offer LAS-MCO direct though.

You could book your international flights with one airline and your internal flights with another.

Single flights are normally sold in Y class, the most expensive economy seat and will cost about the same or more as a return depending on availability.

As mentioned, you shouldn't be looking at one way fares.
If you go on Virgin atlantic, BA etc there is an option for multi city option, click on that and chose your destination airport as MCO and return as LAS or vice versa.
Have a look on South west or Jet Blue airlines websites for flights between MCO and LAS, they normally have good prices and unlike AA, US airways etc they do not charge for checked baggage.

We got V class on our Continental flights, I have no idea if they are better or worse than Y class but the flights worked for us as we also booked one reward flight.

When I was pricing up our flights I could have got some cheaper ones with dreadful flight / connection times. By booking the internal flight separately I got the connections I wanted and still saved on booking all three flights on one ticket
