Extension & Renovation has started

At long last, the project that should have started & finished last year & 9 dates later we finally started on the 2nd Oct!

Proposed floor plan; highlighted bits are where I’ve changed door type or opening & sent to architect.

I’ll update as we go but here’s the demolition of the side extension (utility & cloakrom) & conservatory so far & part built outbuilding (gym) trenches & foundations...
we are doing a whole renovation too so I shall add the photots as we embark on each stage ...

Outbuilding was going up well, now stalled while they get on with drainage works at side & front

Bit of a scare here, had to wait the weekend for building inspector...builders & us were expecting the worst as just water

Building inspector cleared the go ahead explaining it’s hundreds of years old water & all over our area so we could continue as normal 😁

I do too, why I’m sharing here for others who love them 😁

We are putting an alleyway in as there was no access to front from back & it’s desperately needed! New 2 storey side extension to form new utility room, cloakroom & study, upstairs an extra bedroom, new bathroom & part of new master bedroom, dressing area & ensuite.
Two storey part back extension to form new dining room & upstairs a part of new master bedroom.
Single storey rear extension which will be a cosy den with TV, PS etc & family board games with pocket doors into new dining area.
New kitchen & layout.
Adding a porch.
I’ll post the stairs (they’re changing direction) & upstairs when the builder gives me my 3 week warning to get inside ready for them. It’s due to take 6 months.

Oh great, loving following these too, we have one ongoing atm too, so I know what your going through.

Just completed our extension and although the builder was first class the disruption was quite stressful. The worst offenders were dealing with the utilities, mainly the electrical. Incompetent is not a strong enough word. Good luck with yours though and it will be worth it in the end.

Well they are extremely understanding as we had a huge conifer there & had it removed with a bunch of others that were where the outbuilding is going but the one against the fence couldn’t be fully removed as the trunk had grown into their fence! The tree surgeon had to wait for me to get their permission to remove the concrete post it was growing into & to remove all the roots from her garden then make her ground good. She’s waiting to replace the fence until our works are all done. Up until the garden was a mud bath she was popping in through the gap & leaving us bags of her fresh veg she grows in her garden! Very kind family.

The outbuilding to start will be a gym room to house my 9 year olds gymnastics bars, beam & air track, when she’s grown out of them (or her skills are too dangerous to do without her coach present) we will add a mezzanine (it’s going to be a vaulted ceiling) for a cosy reading/relaxing area & downstairs will become a garden bar & house husbands weight bench etc.
