update My sons on his way to Canada to live!

He’s going for one to two years to be with his GF, very emotional this morning. I want him to have the best time but am so sad he’s gone, he is off to Niagara Falls on Saturday for his GF birthday. Dh has taken him to the airport with the dog, I decided to stay here to be with the dog and the dog went and left me!

Update post 29

How exciting for him, yet so sad for you. It’s horrible when they fly the nest isn’t it... but what an adventure.

Wow. What an amazing experience for him but it must be so difficult for you.

My daughter went to university in New Zealand for 6 months when she was 19 and that was incredibly difficult for me so I sort of know how you are feeling.

Saying goodbye was the most difficult thing I have had to do (I'm a single mum and she is my only child so it was like losing my right arm ). I cried all the way home from Gatwick to Manchester and thinking about it still makes me teary now.

Canada is not that far away so hopefully you will be able to go out there to see him and his GF and he will hopefully come back home to visit. There is always Skype to keep in contact as well.

Good luck to him and his GF.

I feel for you. My daughter married someone from Australia and now lives out there. Broke my heart, but had to be happy for her. Its their life. We have done our job bringing them up … but our hearts never forget they are our children, no matter their age.

I hope he is happy out there, we just want our children to be happy. But he had better keep in touch with you regularly! …..

He is 28 so I can’t expect him to stay here forever, it’s just all the laughs we have as a family, him and his brother and sister are all so stupid together, him and his dad shouting watching Man Utd. I’m sure I’ll get used to it!

Wow, what an amazing adventure for him to be starting!

Mine are 19 and 22 and I don't imagine I will have them at home for many more years. I must admit that them 'flying the nest' isn't something I'm looking forward to, but I know they have to eventually. I know it must be a mixed time for you, but you must be very proud of your son.
