Special occasion in New York

After much back and forth, it looks like I will be spending my 50th birthday in New York next year. I would be interested in ideas of special / unusual things to do on the day, which will be a Sunday. I have been to NY many many times before so have done the main sights, although my last trip was a decade ago. We will be travelling as two adults in April.

In addition, if anybody can recommend fine dining that would be appreciated. I had a few ideas but found that some are shut on Sundays.

Firstly, congratulations. Why not have a look at Keens on 36th Street. They are definitely open on Sundays.

Was just about to say Keens too. Amazing place with lots of history behind it too.

Thank you. I will take a look, I have never heard of it so that is interesting.

Edit: It looks good, definitely on the list, my husband would be salivating at the tripadvisor food photos.

We spent our 25th wedding anniversary at Keen’s and had a fabulous meal. Definitely worth adding to your list.

Yes thank you, currently a very short list. I have held a booking at Capital Grille for dinner but seems a bit unimaginative and I am not enthusing over it.

I had dinner at the Gramercy Tavern on my 40th birthday last year. DH and I both loved it.

Edit: during the trip we also had breakfast at Tiffany’s! You have to do a bit of planning to snag a reservation as soon as reservations are opened for your date, but it was a special experience. After breakfast we ordered the celebration cake; the leftovers came back to the hotel and were breakfast for the next couple of days as well!

Firstly Happy Birthday in advance and secondly I agree New York is a brilliant city to celebrate. We have only been once and didn’t do any fine dining on our family trip 😀 But special ideas for me on a birthday celebration would be good tickets for a Broadway show (preferably Hamilton) Something a little different would be a helicopter tour of the city maybe? Definitely a trip to Tiffany’s for a birthday gift too.
