What’s your interests? Age of DD?

Edinburgh or Glasgow have lots of activities and can easily travel between the both of them by train or bus in about an hour. Can also take bus or train further North to Dundee (V&A museum etc) or Stirling (castle). Further North there’s Inverness or Aberdeen as main cities.

Or if it’s peace and quiet (plus stunning scenery) then Skye is lovely - though you’d need a car for there.

Personally I’d go with Edinburgh or Glasgow as a base and day trips from either as more to do / see.

Come to Edinburgh! Depends on when you are planning to come as we have the festival all of next month and the majority of hotels are sold out plus can get away with bumping up the prices! I come from Edinburgh and stay literally 10 mins from town so if you have any questions please feel free to ask it is a beautiful city xx

P.s there are some really good tours that depart from Edinburgh (castle) and go to the likes of Loch Lomond, Stirling not forgetting whiskey tours

We are looking for someplace rural for relaxing but with a pool and maybe horse riding for dd. I used to live in the central belt so have done all the things millions of times. We done Dundee last year and I live not far from Inverness. Skye/Harris is fully booked with tourists.

Thank you, yeah Edinbrugh is a stunning city. We have spent a lot of time there. We are planning on staying in Edinburgh over the summer to take dd to the zoo and to see Grayfares. Hotel recommendations would be fab if that's ok?

Thanks so much

What about Angus? Depending how rural you want to be there are lodges and a hotel in Glen Clova (a short journey from Kirriemuir where there is Pathead Equestrian Centre).

If you’d rather be in a town then Forfar is within a half hour drive of the other Angus towns of Arbroath, Brechin, Montrose, Carnoustie and Monifieth. Forfar has a beautiful loch which takes around 40 minutes to walk right round, lots of eating places. Glamis Castle a five minute drive away.

No problems at all. In no order I would recommend the following places to stay:

1) Motel One, Market Street
2) Premier Inn, Market Street
3) Jury’s Inn, Jeffrey Street
4) Ibis Southbridge
5) Apex, Grassmarket
6) Holiday Inn Express, Leith Shore
7) Village Hotel - I get discount at this hotel
8) Eden Locke apartments, George Street
9) Holiday Inn Express, Edinburgh city centre

Hope this helps

Dumfries and Galloway? Likely to have horse riding opportunities at least and pretty rural?
