I may well be wrong but I believe the original Hotel Sacher in Vienna invented the torte. Its a pity you didn't do the castle as the views into Germany from one of the restaurants, the first one after the finicula, are just stunning.
IMHO, Salzburg is best seen when the Christmas markets are on and the Krampus runs take place. The market at Hellbrunn has to be seen at dusk when they illuminate the 20,000 decorations in the trees.

Thank you! It was a great trip albeit brief and we took it slowly because of Sophie being pregnant! I'll post the link for you shortly.

The trip was just a timing thing, this was when we could go and when was cheapest which was important for us. I'm sure any European city is best during the Christmas markets really!
I would definitely go back to Salzburg to see more, we were obviously restricted with Sophie being pregnant.
