Mobile Car hire for this August

Been looking for a car for a couple of weeks and all of a sudden the prices seem to have rocketed, is it normal for such a fluctuation ?

I booked our car about 3 weeks ago via virgin Atlantic £680 for 3 weeks with a standard SUV. I've been tracking prices since October (didn't have the money to book at the time) and they have steadily increased.

We booked around 2 weeks ago after cancelling a previous booking (Norwegian airlines issues).
We have 10 days from 31 July picking up a Jetta from Universal holiday inn and dropping at Miami Int.
£303 inc CDW etc from Budget.

How much! I have a 4 week Alamo booking, Standard SUV for £300 less than that.

Thanks for all the responses, I did nearly book it a couple of weeks ago with DFCH but just all of a sudden jumped up in price, will give it a couple of weeks and then I’ll just ‘bite the bullet

I haven't seen prices change very much at all, they did increase but seem to be coming down a little.
I too have 3 weeks booked in Aug for 2 cars. Standard SUV for £679 with VH and haven't seen it any better.
Second booking was a luxury but cancelled last week and rebooked with an autoeurope discount email to get a Full Size SUV for £899 which is the cheapest i have found (Alamo)

Still checking every few days

A good comparison site is:

travelsupermarket/en-gb/car-hire

I got an excellent deal with GotRentalCars.com which uses Budget. I was a bit concerned due to it being signicantly cheaper than the alternatives, but I spoke to Travel Supermarket who reassured me that they do the checks on the companies that are on their website and have not received any negative feedback about them.

The cheap car hire deals show up early hours of the morning, but before 8am.
