Mobile BA EXECUTIVE CLUB- any benefits?

Hi All,

We are flying BA, I’ve joined the executive club for my husband and I, is it worth me joining the children? Are there any immediate benefits? Or benefits for the actual flight or check in?

As far as I'm aware there are no immediate benefits but by adding them on you will collect avois points for their flights too.

Join the children up and create a household account so your points can be pooled. You can then choose how to spend the points on upgrades, hotel rooms etc

No benefits other than collecting the Avios at the level you will be entering I'm afraid. You can also do Shops Away (look on the left hand side of your account n scroll down) at vaious on line shops which also make you extra Avios

OK, one other reason to join. It's a long shot but you may as well do it for the children. Here goes...

Your flight will get you a tiny number of tier points, in addition to your avios points. Tier points are what you accumulate to get bronze, silver and gold status - e.g. 300 tier points in a year to get bronze, 1,500 for gold. Now while your flight to Orlando (earning probably 40 tier points each) won't get you anywhere near even the bronze target, there is also 'lifetime gold*' to consider, which is done based on accumulated points for as long as you remain a member. I think it's around 35000 tier points that gets you gold for life.

So think of the children - if they end up doing a job with a lot of travel (where a business class flight could net you 300 tier points), then they will thank you for having sorted them out a head start in their early years (I'm on around 15-20k but had a number of flights to the US as a minor which won't count as I wasn't a member)

* gold gets you things like First Class check-in, First lounge access, 2 free bags to check-in (31kg each..), free seat reservations as soon as you book, bonus avios, greater avios redemption availability and, here's the kicker, a personal greeting on board! It's worth shooting for.

WTP return to Florida is 180 points so a couple of trips a year will get you bronze. Although it's not really till you get to silver (600 points in a 12 month period) that you really see any significant benefits

No there are no immediate benefits, you need to have reached a higher status through collecting tier points (only possible with flights) before there are any benefits. Assuming children collect points same as anyone else, it is worth everyone joining for that.

My grandchildren have the same number of points as their parents, no enough for status but have both been awarded Silver by BA, now they guest their parents into the lounge!

We've been bronze for a while now but we won't ever likely go above that. It's not brilliant, but we can book seats 7 days in advance and we get extra avios points with each booking, plus if you fly economy you can check into the club desk (not that exciting).

The points do add up because we've had lots of gatwick hotel rooms booked with them and universal hotels. This year I've booked 2 gatwick hotel rooms and a one night stay at the RPR for 4 adults using my avios points and that would have cost over £500.
