Is booking seats necessary on Virgin - flying with children

We are flying in Aug, 2 adults, 2 children, not bothered if we are sat in a 4 or a 3 then a 1 or even 2 behind 2 - can't really afford to spend another £120 to reserve seats, the children will be 10. What do you think?

According to Virgin we will be sat together.

You'll get the standard replies that if it's going to spoil your holiday then pay.

I did last year. This year I'm holding off. If you join flying club you can book for free at 72 hours.

Many don't pay and don't gave problems but there's always stories of where it's not worked.

Sorry not much help 🙈🙉🙊

Booking seats doesn't guarantee them anyway

If it’s not affordable then I wouldn’t worry about it and what will be will be although they can separate you by an aisle or a row if needed.

I think I am going to risk it, (half hoping I get to sit on my own lol and leave my mum with the 2 kids) I am a member of the flying club so will book in 72 hrs in advance.

All the standard advice still stands but as you've decided to take the risk it's worth bearing two things in mind

1) travelling with under 12s they will do their very best for you
2) if you are going to use the 72 hour member reservation perk, remember every one of you needs to be a member not just you

Good luck with getting something decent and saving some cash into the bargain

Consider whether if at the point you check in there are no seats together would you be upset that you are not sat together / all split up.

If the answer is no then that’s fine, if the answer is yes then you have a decision to make.

For me travelling at a peak time, (school hols) lots of families travelling is also a factor to consider.

I didn't realise we all had to be members, thank you for that. So even children have to be members even though they don't have their own email address?

don't forget you all need to be a flying club members, including the children to book 72 hours in advance.

I have pre-booked this time as my son will be 14 when we travel, but have never previously when my son was younger and we were always sat together (72 hours out).

You could always keep checking the availability of the seats, and if you see them getting booked up, then think about pre-booking. Though personally I think you will be fine.

i just checked on the virgin website and seat selection is free if your economy classic, or economy delight, it’s only economy light where you pay so log on and see what your tickets are
