Zoo prices

Fancied taking grandchildren to Edinburgh zoo, tosay im shocked is an understatement £22 for an adult! I must be so out of touch, as it has been years since we last went. Is this an average price?

This sounds right for a zoo visit. Our summer visit to Chester Zoo cost nearly £100 for three adults and one child.

We went to Blackpool Zoo a month ago and that was £20 each. We used some Tesco Clubcard points to bring the cost down.

I expect the upkeep of the zoo is huge and with less visitors this year they've not been able to offer the Groupon type vouchers that are usually available.

Yeah that’s about normal these days - but Edinburgh zoo is one I’m happy to pay that for.

No idea if you are local but it’s worthwhile to get a years membership as it pays for itself after a few visits.

Edit: worth pointing out that Edinburgh Zoo (don’t know about the others) fund quite a variety of projects helping animals in the wild in various countries. One of the vets has in the past gone to Vietnam to train vets there on keyhole surgery on sun bears as he is a world expert. All this is funded from visitors.

We have a membership at Chester zoo, and as pumpkin pie says, it does pay for itself

I took the family to Edinburgh zoo back in the summer and it cost around £90 for 3 adults, 1 concession, 1 child and 1 infant (free).

It was a great day though in a summer that our family holiday was cancelled.

I respectfully think you are out of touch because I honesty would have guessed it would have been more than £22 for an adult as it cost that much just to park at a theme park in Florida.
