Buy and Sell DVC

I have this year taken the difficult decision to sell both DVC contracts.

I listed with Jason at Buy and Sell DVC and have just closed on the second contract.

I have to say that the process was straightforward and Jason has been exceptionally helpful and responsive throughout.

The only other recommendation I would make is for UPS who I found relatively cost effective for sending the documents back to the US and easy to arrange sending and collection.

I have enjoyed my membership but I think that my next visit is unlikely to be imminent due to Covid and in future I may spend less time on site so thought it was a good time to sell.

I feel the same and decided to sell my 170 SSR as its loaded with points right now and for the first time ever, I do not have a trip booked using some.

Was it really easy ? Ive found my original deeds. Do you need anything else ?

What costs are involved in selling ? Im thinking the agent and 20% IRS charge ?

Notary fees, and possibly UPS/Fedex charge to return signed sales documents.

You can also pay an agent to recover the FIRPTA for you.

I bought it 2004 when it opened. I cannot recall what I bought it for - if I made a profit can you still get back the FIRPTA anyway do you know ?

No idea sorry, it's a long time since I claimed mine back - I sold half my Boardwalk to buy into BLT.

I'm pretty sure though that exchange rate profits don't count - I think you only consider the price bought and sold in $ to assess whether you made a profit in the US.

Where did you buy? Historical direct prices should be online somewhere.

It was really easy I needed none of my paperwork. Sorted everything through Jason including someone to deal with FIRPTA. All paperwork emailed including clear instructions of what was signed with a signing platform and the closing docs which needed to go back hard copy. They even gave a link to help find a notary as these are more difficult here and I say that as a lawyer myself.

Monies were sent directly to my account less amounts held for taxes fees etc.

Now put the monies aside against future holidays some of which will be to Disney once Covid is done with and once they are properly open including shows etc.

Good luck if you choose to sell

Could anyone please tell me how much it costs to send the notarised documents back to US?

About £20 with UPS or Fedex. Personally I would stick with one of the big names as they operate their own flights to give best service.

Use a parcel comparison site like parcels2go to get the best price.
