Computer is wrong.

Everyone that is not a citizen needs a visa in order to enter Australia. It is an electronic visa you don’t need to send your passport off to get a paper one put in, but it must be obtained in advance or you won’t be allowed on the plane.

If you use the official immigration website I think the visa will be free.

Thanks Claudette , I've had a look at the Government website and as you say we qualify for a free visa. Timatic is probably very glitchy at the moment with all the changes due to Covid19 and is probably saying no at this time . Anyway plenty of planning to do and plenty of time to get a visa.

Also looking at Australia and New Zealand February/March 2022.

This may involves booking (some of) the flights around March/April 2021. Due to COVID will Aus & NZ be allowing tourists?

CrumpThree, Personally I doubt Aus/NZ will allow tourism for the foreseeable future. Although I'm planning on 2022 I w.ould not be surprised if we had to cancel.

I have been thinking a lot about an Australia trip, waiting, watching and hoping

We had hopefully booked Australia for May 2021 but cancelled it now as I don’t think it is realistic. We also may try for 2022.

We went on a tour with Distant Journeys. Well organised with a fantastic tour director called Jenny. However we would feel very confident booking DIY next time
