Tell me about NYC - good & bad
My Daughter & I are going to New York in October for the first time.
I Have asked this before but can't find it Can you please tell me what you loved and was worth seeing and what you felt was a waste of money. Where did you stay? We have the Broadway Plaza Hotel booked already. Where you ate than was really good. Anything is appreciated. Thanks

Excited about Disney

Statue of Liberty - instead of visiting the island we took a boat ride around it which allowed us to get some amazing pictures along with going under the Brooklyn bridge and up the Hudson.

I’d book the crucible if you can get it for Statue of Liberty, but crown if not,we did crown. Fantastic views from up there.
Watch out for all the dodgy scammers on Times Square and my advice is to have a quick look and avoid the area like the plague. High Line is a nice walk. Just walk all over if you are up to it. Get subway over to Brooklyn and walk back over the bridge.

We ❤️NYC,Been 3 times now
Top of the Rock One world observatory ESB, isn’t my fav, but iconic Central Park We did ice skating Rockefeller Xmas morning High line good too Walk to Brooklyn and walk back. Not like Yorkshire T Did crown SOL, was good but bit cramped My favourite place for cakes Magnolia Bakery 🧁😋 And Dunkin Donuts all over the pace Good place for breakfast is Times Square diner, great pancakes, it’s not in Times Square though There is an IHOP, but it’s hard to find. I’ve never been but the Edge looks fantastic too I’d do one tower at night & one in the day You’ll have an amazing time |

Top of the rock we found better than ESB, loved walking around Central Park. Bought a 3 day bus tour ticket which we used to hop on and off around the city which worked well for us.
Times Square as said before be careful of scammers. We generally ate quickly at pret but shake shack in madison square Park was great too.

Second Magnolia Bakery! There’s one at the food court under Grand Central Terminal.
We did a sunset sail around the Statue of Liberty with a glass of bubbly , that was lovley. I enjoy the lower part of Manhattan, Federal Hall and Wall St area. Also walk the Highline from Chelsea to Hudson Yards and DH enjoyed the Intrepid. Just don’t engage with anyone who speaks to you or tries to sell you CDs, ‘ monks’ who try to sell you beads. One of our nicest meals was the Loeb Boathouse in Central Park. We did a day trip to DC ( booked at our hotel) which was hectic but we saw all the ‘ sights’ . DH thought there were a lot of homeless people and lots of rubbish piled on the sidewalks, which there was but that didn’t bother me as much as him. I love NYC, been in the summer and in January, loved it both times! I enjoyed walking as much as possible, it’s really easy with the grid system. Watch some Actionkid vlogs before you go, I really learned a lot from them. ETA went up all three towers, enjoyed ESB at sunset watching the lights come on below. The buildings looked like Lego buildings from up there! Edited at 11:37 AM. |

Though expensive, and mediocre food, Ellen’s Stardust Diner is iconic.
