Waivers are now saying 16 resorts vs 14 resorts

To all of our buyers and sellers we do want to disclose some information. The waivers are now coming in with an interesting change in the number of existing resorts. The waivers normally come in saying “Effective January 19, 2019, only Members who purchase directly from Disney will be able to use their Vacation Points at the 14 existing Disney Vacation Club Resorts or future Resorts - such as Disney’ s Riviera Resort or Reflections - A Disney Lakeside Lodge. Resale contracts purchased for the existing 14 Disney Vacation Club Resorts will only be able to exchange Points into those 14 Resorts.

The waivers and final documents a buyer receives says "Effective January 19, 2019, only Members who purchase directly from Disney will be able to use their Vacation Points at the 16 existing Disney Vacation Club Resorts or future Resorts - such as Reflections - A Disney Lakeside Lodge. Resale contracts purchased for the existing 16 Disney Vacation Club Resorts will only be able to exchange Points into those 16 Resorts.”

When we asked Disney if this is correct they responded saying the points can be used at the following 16 resorts.

OKW SSR
BCV BWALK
VWL CCV
RVA BLT
VGF PVB
GCAL AULANI
HHI VERO
AKV AKV2

Disney hasn’t made any announcement and they haven’t changed their website. We have been getting questions constantly as buyers are reading their final documents so we want to pass on this information.

Very very very interesting.
It might be nothing, but it might also mean they're lifting the resale restrictions, which would be a huge U-turn.

Very interesting to see if this will really pan out the way many of us are hoping 🤞. We’re currently in the ROFR queue again so I have a current interest in this.

How have they gone from 14 resorts to 16? Is it the Kidani/Jambo split? Do you think there’s any relevance in that?

Does this mean Disney tweak the wording (from 14 to 16) when they send it back to the broker with their waiver? I ask as I signed a document early in the buying process that had 14 resorts stated. However since then they waived their right. I haven't seen the document since and am due to close in the next couple of weeks. Could they have changed the number, without me seeing it yet? I'm currently dealing with the title company - sent funds but haven't closed.

They only send it once. But if they cancel the restrictions they’d likely do it for everyone otherwise a logistical nightmare as you’d have a bunch like me with mainly no restrictions, then some restricted, then some not again and it would make no sense anyway so I wouldn’t worry about what your particular waiver said. The waiver is only a notification anyway and they don’t even lodge them with Orange County any more.
