Mobile Vegas with children - the practicalities..

Before our DD arrived I was a regular visitor to Vegas and not been back since. Contemplating going there for my 50th in a couple of years time by which time she’ll be 10.

Now I know kids go there as I’ve seen them 😊 and I know there’s quite a bit for them to do there but anyone who has been what are the practicalities of taking kids?

We’re not big gamblers but would do some slots and roulette on our own as kids can’t watch (so one would be with DD while other plays) but are they allowed to walk through the casino areas at all in terms of getting around? Any other things to be aware of for those who have visited with children?

My kids (they are adults now) loved Vegas at that age. It’s completely possible

They are allowed to walk through casino areas, they just can’t stop / linger.

Daytona Babe has a huge list of stuff for kids - I can add my thoughts if you’d like - I’ve not stayed post COVID though so you’d want to check all are open

Hi, I've been with my 3 older kids that are now in their 20's but two of them have been teens. My youngest who is now 12 has been 4 times and loves it.

Things we have done:
Go karting at Mini Grand Prix at Rainbow boulevard around 15 minutes from the strip, seen shows such at KA by Cirque du Soliel, M&M world , Coca Cola store, Hershey store, Dodgem cars at Circus Circus, Geode bashing at Springs preserve and learning about the history of Vegas, it's really good for kids. My son bashed a huge Geode last year and had the pieces in his room. We also visited all the attractions along the strip. Oh and the water park, cowabunga bay , off strip about 20 minutes but really good, as well as Madame Tussauds, cheesy, but fun and there is also a nice shopping area just past Mandalay Bay, the name escapes me, but there is a really nice grass and park area and a gaming place too. We also did Top Golf. We went for 2 weeks last Summer and easily filled the time. I don't gamble at all and we had a great time

Not planning on going till 2023 so hoping COVID is a distant memory by then 😊

I used to be very much up to date with all things Vegas but out of the loop now so all suggestions greatly received. I know they’ve redeveloped near what was once the imperial palace and have a big wheel (?) and had other kids stuff at circus circus and Excalibur and we’d do things like the garden at the mirage and go further afield to the Grand Canyon for a day trip but it’s more what can and can’t be done with kids given how strict the USA are with gambling/drinking (I.e. could we sit in one of the lounges with her and have a drink or is that a complete no)

Oh right, sorry completely useless in that respect as I don't drink either, so no idea, but I did do the wheel you talk about and see Tournament of the kings in Excalibur. On Facebook there is a fantastic group called Vegas for Families. They will be able to give you that info

My niece and nephew loved Vegas when we went and they were 8 and 6 at the time. Kids can’t enter the casino floor but can walk through, my nephew regularly danced his way through which was hilarious to watch.

We time shifted our day to suit going with children. Early start, pool time in the afternoon, early dinner, walk the strip in the evening whilst it’s still quite and then back to the hotel. Some of us would go back out, and some would stay in the hotel. We stayed at Elara so a few of us could chill in the room and not disturb the sleeping little ones.

We found that the men walking down the strip standing next to the kids wouldn’t be offered the cards advertising ‘special ladies’ whilst the others would. I did wonder why my dad didn’t speak to his grandchildren for a week

Our DS was 11 when we took him and he loved every minute. We explored all the hotels so walked through a few casinos- they just can’t step into the gambling areas off the walkways. Wasn’t an issue for us. We did separately use some slot machines when heading to get drinks and snack which was fine. We avoided the main strip at night when it gets more rowdy. Stayed in a hotel with a good pool and lazy river and did all the things others have mentioned. Great trip.

I believe that kids (anyone under 21) in a lounge is an absolute definite no.

We went to Vegas twice last year and spent a lot of time in lounges and honestly can’t remember seeing any youngsters in there.

But there are restaurants everywhere and they are more than happy to just serve a drink which is a workaround that we used when our kids came
