Arrgh - Banked too soon

So after our November flights got cancelled I banked this years points, thinking that we'd go in November next year but my family are desperate to go so we've rebooked the flights for April and then I went to book the accomodation but because I banked the points I can only use half - I'll be honest I thought it was borrowing you could only use half. Been on the phone to Disney and a really nice lady tried to help but couldn't. So I have some options.
1. rent the points from Davids - may make sense as they are probably cheaper right now.
2. Book at AKL and then add 2 nights at somewhere else - maybe 1 night at Universal and 1 at Coronado Springs.
I am a numpty - I really didn't think it would be an issue as those points had been in play already.

I’m guessing because you have banked them you now need to borrow them to get access to them before your use year changes.

Yes and they won't unbank them - sigh, I really didn't think through this permutation. I expected to (if it were possible) do a stay in April myself and then have the family out in November. Renting points is looking expensive as we have to be in a 2 bed so that's probably not going to happen.
Back to the drawing board.

You can transfer the points from another member into your account and then rent or use the points you banked in your next use year. Transferring is pretty easy and you "own" the points when they are transferred into your account. I think given the amount of points looking for a home right now you would probably be up on the deal?

Thanks - I decided to book the middle weekend at Universal and used a voucher from BA to pay for most of it as I had another cancelled flight. All I needed was 4 points in the end as a one off purchase.
