I think it depends on how confident you are in your inability to travel (for the personal reasons). I think you've got a good few months before they become distressed. Personally, I would give yourself a bit longer. That October reservation is almost guaranteed to rent at a good price given the 50th, even if you don't rent it till June / July time. So I would sit on it for a few more months.
