It's worse... For the homeward leg, there needs to be a pre flight test, and then one within two days of landing.
"Green: arrivals will need to take a pre-departure test as well as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test on or before day 2 of their arrival back into the UK - but will not need to quarantine on return (unless they receive a positive result) or take any additional tests, halving the cost of tests on their return from holiday" Needs streamlining, and the article does say there's the potential of government test, and also reviews down the line. Fingers crossed the potential outlays reduce by August. Edited at 10:01 AM. |

I wonder what age they will require children tested from. I can imagine it would be off putting for those with very young ones, say under 7’s. I think with testing plus masks if mine were still little I’d be postponing now

No mention of any difference to the regime if you've been vaccinated?
So I will hopefully have had both doses by departure time, but i'll still need to take: 1. A PCR test within 72 hours of my departure from the UK to the US 2. A lateral flow test shortly before departure from the US to the UK 3. A PCR test two days after arrival back in the UK Is that right? (assuming the US is green of course!) |

The last two points are at the moment. Will depend on what the US say about point one but I’d be surprised if they don’t require a PCR test upon entry or just prior to departure from here.

The government page states that children under 11 are exempt from tests for returning to UK.
