RIP to a man who did so much for the younger generation through the Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme. Feel a tad sad today.

Her Majesty has lost her rock!

Our son was one of those who achieved his gold Duke of Edinburgh award before he was 18 making him one of the younger achievers and the first person in his group to go through and gain his gold. We went to St James palace for the award ceremony and was very impressed with the way the Duke made them all feel at ease and proud of their achievements.

It's sad but I don't think he wanted any fuss on his 100th birthday. I can imagine him saying I'll bow out before gracefully.
I really feel for the Queen, she has had one hell of a year yet again. She has lost her one and only love now

This is such sad news for the whole of the royal family but especially the Queen, to lose your life partner and so close to her birthday too

The optimist in me was hoping he'd reach his 100th birthday and get his card off the Queen.
